Weight Loss Surgery Support Groups in Louisiana

As part of the Surgical Specialists of Louisiana commitment to patient care and healthy clinical outcomes, we offer several educational opportunities including patient seminars and support groups. Patient support groups are primarily designed for patients who have already had obesity surgery, but can be attended by prospective patients as well. They provide a critical forum for patients to share experiences, have questions answered, and gain encouragement from their peers.

Who Should Attend Weight Loss Surgery Support Group Meetings?

We encourage post-operative patients to attend bariatric support groups regularly. Our support group is open to patients from other programs: our focus is on the well-being of all bariatric surgery patients. We also encourage pre-operative patients to attend as part of their preparation for surgery. It is strongly recommended that children not accompany patients due to the potential for adult oriented topics and discussions.
